HC Deb 04 April 1962 vol 657 cc43-4W
60. Mr. Mayhew

asked the Lord Privy Seal if he will give details of the cuts proposed in Foreign Office information expenditure in the Middle East, South-East Asia and the Far East for 1962–63.

Mr. Heath

The savings amounting to £23,000 for the Middle East and £10,500 for South-East Asia and the Far East arise almost entirely from small staff reductions spread over a number of posts. They are savings which Ambassadors thought could be sustained without damage to our not inconsiderable information effort in these important areas.
