§ 47. Mr. Gowerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many unfit houses have been closed in Wales since the resumption of the slum-clearance drive; and how many he expects to be closed during 1962.
Dr. HillBetween 1st January, 1955, and 31st December, 1961, 13,346 unfit houses were closed or demolished in Wales. I have no way of estimating the number that will be closed or demolished this year since the initiative rests with the local authorities, but I hope it will be more than the 2,811 dealt with last year.
