HC Deb 03 April 1962 vol 657 c26W
46. Mr. Gower

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what are his latest estimates of the numbers and proportions of owner-occupiers of dwellings in England and Wales, respectively.

Dr. Hill

I estimate that in mid-1960 the number of owner-occupied dwellings in England and Wales was 6 million (or approximately 41 per cent of the total) and was increasing at about 250,000 a year. I cannot give figures for England and Wales separately.
