HC Deb 03 April 1962 vol 657 c30W
57. Mr. Lipton

asked the Minister of Works what building contracts allocated by his Department are being carried out on a cost-plus basis.

Lord John Hope

My Ministry placed nearly 9,000 works contracts in 1960 and over 9,000 in 1961 of an aggregate value of £23 million and £26 million respectively. Of those for 1960 fifty contracts over £3,000 in value were prime cost contracts, totalling less than £2 million; for 1961 the comparable figure was fifty-two prime cost contracts, totalling less than £1 million. The figures for 1960 include the contract for Downing Street and the Treasury building.
