§ 84. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Lord Privy Seal if he will now make a statement on the steps which he has taken to date to secure, and the success he has achieved in securing international agreement on the making, testing and using of atomic, hydrogen and thermonuclear bombs.
§ Mr. HeathHer Majesty's Government have, with the United States and Soviet Governments, been negotiating since 1958 for a Treaty banning nuclear weapon tests under effective international control. These negotiations are being resumed on 28th November. Her Majesty's Government have also been taking part for some years in negotiations for controlled multilateral disarmament. No agreements have yet been concluded but Her Majesty's Government stand ready to continue such discussions.
§ 91. Mr. Healeyasked the Lord Privy Seal what reply Her Majesty's Government have given to the Soviet Note concerning a resumption of negotiations for a ban on nuclear test explosions.
