HC Deb 27 November 1961 vol 650 c4W
59. Mrs. Castle

asked the Minister of Health how many hearing aid technicians were employed in the National Health Service on 31st October, 1951. and 31st October, 1961, respectively; and what were the minimum and maximum salary scales fixed for these technicians when their salaries were last reviewed.

Miss Pitt

I have figures only for 31st December. For England and Wales these were 123 whole-time equivalents in 1951 and 221 in 1960. The salary scale operative since 1st September, 1960, rises from £270 at age 18 to £590 maximum, with responsibility allowances in certain cases.
