HC Deb 02 May 1961 vol 639 c93W
52. Mr. C. Johnson

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether, in view of the desirability of showing public rights of way as shown in definitive maps prepared by county councils under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act, 1949, on ordnance survey one-inch maps as soon as possible, he will take steps to hasten the completion of the definitive map for the rural districts of Cranbrook and Tonbridge so as to enable Sheet 183, which is largely covered by the definitive map completed in 1958 by East Sussex, to be reprinted with authoritative information as to rights of way.

Sir K. Joseph

Premature publication of incomplete maps may cause uncertainty. The provisional map for the rural district of Cranbrook was published on 30th December last, and I am told that Kent County Council is now preparing the provisional map for the rural district of Tonbridge, so definitive maps for these areas should be coming along soon.
