§ Mr. Denzil FreethThe Council for Scientific and Industrial Research encourages the formation of industrial Research Associations which provide jointly financed research and development facilities at a cost small firms can afford. These now number 52 and serve about 55 per cent. of British manufacturing industry. D.S.I.R. gives special support to schemes designed to encourage industry to be more research-minded.
