§ Mr. Rootsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when his advisory council is expected to commence the inquiry into the organisation of statutory and voluntary after-care for discharged prisoners announced last November; and what progress has been made in the matter.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerThe Advisory Council on the Treatment of Offenders has already given preliminary consideration to this inquiry and has appointed a sub-committee to make a detailed examination of the problem and to hear evidence. It will no doubt be necessary for the sub-Committee to hold a series of meetings, the first of which has been arranged for early next month.
