asked the Minister of Transport when he will publish his proposals for the improvement of the A.2 in the Dartford area.

Preliminary consultations show that there is a sharp division of opinion between the various local authorities concerned on the proper line to be adopted for the proposed Dartford diversion.

My right hon. Friend has, therefore, decided to publish a draft Order under Section 7 of the Highways Act, 1959, covering the line prepared by the Kent County Council as his agent authority, in order that public opinion may be fully tested. This draft Order will appear in the local Press and in the London Gazette later this week.
