§ 53. Mr. Prenticeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to make a statement of Government policy arising out of the recent White Paper on compensating the victims of crimes of violence.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerAs the preface to the White Paper states, the Report of the Working Party has been published with a view to eliciting further opinions on the several questions of principle and the many practical difficulties which would have to be resolved before a decision could be taken to introduce any scheme of compensation. Time must be allowed for a careful study of the Report to be made and for these opinions to be expressed before consideration can be given to making a further statement of Government policy.
