HC Deb 06 July 1961 vol 643 c149W
Mr. G. M. Thomson

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what consultations his Department has had with the institutions of higher education in this country regarding the availability of lodgings for overseas students from Commonwealth countries.

Mr. Braine

The British Council act as the agents of the Commonwealth Relations Office in matters affecting the welfare of students from Commonwealth countries overseas, including their accommodation needs. Close liaison is maintained by the British Council with those officials of universities and institutions of higher education throughout the United Kingdom, who are concerned with this important matter.
