HC Deb 06 July 1961 vol 643 c142W
53. Mr. N. Pannell

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what decisions have been reached following the recent visit of Colonial Office representatives to the Southern Cameroons; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Iain Macleod

The discussions in Buea from 15th to 17th June between representatives of the Governments of the Cameroun Republic, the Southern Cameroons and the United Kingdom were held in pursuance of the United Nations Resolution of 21st April to consider the arrangements to come into effect when the United Kingdom's trusteeship ends on 1st October. No final decisions were reached, but a number of the many questions which will arise were usefully examined and a further meeting is expected to take place shortly.
