Mr. Zilliacus

asked the Lord Privy Seal for what reason Her Majesty's representative on the Council of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation assented to General Heusinger's new appointment.

Mr. Edward Heath:

As I explained in my reply to the hon. Member for Ash-field (Mr. Warbey) on 19th December last, this was not a matter for the North Atlantic Council, but for the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Military Committee. Her Majesty's Government are satisfied that General Heusinger is fully qualified to fill the appointment.
