HC Deb 30 January 1961 vol 633 c79W
81. Mr. T. Brown

asked the Minister of Power the number of claims which have been made for compensation under Section 11 (b) of the Coal Mining (Subsidence) Act, 1950; how many of the claims have been admitted; how many have been rejected; and what was the amount of money paid, up to and including 31st December, 1960, or the latest available date.

Mr. George:

The subsection, to which the hon. Member refers is no longer in force. It only gave the Minister power to make grants to the National Coal Board in respect of expenditure it had incurred. These grants amounted to Eli million. My right hon. Friend is asking the Chairman to write to the hon. Member about the claims made on the Board.
