HC Deb 30 January 1961 vol 633 c73W
62. Mr. Lee

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will make a statement as to the progress of apprenticeship arrangements in order to cope with the large increase of school leavers during 1961–62.

Mr. Hare:

The need for an increased intake of apprentices over the peak years of the "bulge" has been accepted by industry. Some increase has already taken place and I am informed by the Industrial Training Council that there are prospects of further substantial increase, but I am fully aware that a great deal still remains to be done in the next two years.
