HC Deb 17 February 1961 vol 634 cc173-4W
Mr. Robert Cooke

asked the Minister of Education if he will state the total expenditure on land and buildings for Redland Teacher Training College, Bristol.

Sir D. Eccles:

From 1947, when the college first opened, up to the present, the total capital expenditure on land and buildings for Redland Training College has been £171,182.

Mr. Robert Cooke

asked the Minister of Education if he will state the number of teachers trained at Redland Training College and the cost of training each teacher.

Sir D. Eccles:

This college has produced 1,577 qualified teachers since it was opened in 1947. The cost of training each teacher has not remained constant since 1947, but the net cost of training a teacher for a two-year course completed in 1959–60, excluding any personal grants payable, was about £810.
