HC Deb 15 February 1961 vol 634 cc141-2W
Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Postmaster-General, in view of the need to modernise methods of dealing with mail bags on the railways, when he intends to install electrically operated conveyors from the outside of stations direct to the platforms.

Miss Pike:

Electrically operated conveyors connecting sorting offices with railway station platforms will be provided where circumstances are favourable and an economic scheme can be devised. Their introduction at a number of places is now being considered.
