HC Deb 14 February 1961 vol 634 c124W
Sir W. Bromley-Davenport

asked the President of the Board of Trade what representations he has received urging that representatives of the Engineering Industries Association should serve on the recently established Export Council for Europe; and whether he will reconsider his decision not to ask a representative of this association to serve.

Mr. Maudling:

As my right hon. Friend the Minister of State pointed out in a letter to the hon. and gallant Member on 22nd December last, the members of the Council, who serve in their personal capacities, are drawn from a variety of exporting interests, including a wide range of engineering industries. I have had no representations with regard to the Engineering Industries Association other than from the hon. Member. The second part of the Question does not arise since the appointments are made by the Council's Chairman.
