Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make inquiries of big firms and factories in England and in the South of Scotland, to estimate the extent to which they are willing to place auxiliary orders for machine parts with Aberdeen firms now in need of orders and suitably equipped to execute those orders.

Mr. N. Macpherson:

No. The best arrangement would be for Aberdeen firms with spare engineering capacity themselves to approach other engineering firms direct.
