asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state the dates between which the compensation amounting to nearly £14,000 was paid from the United Kingdom Exchequer in respect of surrender of, loss of, or damage to, firearms and ammunition handed to the Royal Irish Constabulary.

Mr. R. A. Butler:

The first payment was made on 24th May, 1923, and the last in April, 1929.
