HC Deb 21 December 1961 vol 651 cc181-2W
60. Miss Vickers

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what areas in South-West England will be able to send offenders to the senior detention centre to be provided near Devizes, and to the proposed junior detention centre to be provided somewhere in the South-West.

Mr. Fletcher-Cooke

My right hon. Friend intends that all areas in the South-West shall be included either in the catchment area of the Senior Detention Centre near Devizes or that of the Centre at Haslar, Hampshire; I cannot be more precise until nearer the time. Both will be ready in about six months. The site for the junior centre referred to is not yet settled. It should be able to cover a wide area including the South-West.
