HC Deb 21 December 1961 vol 651 c172W
Mr. Boyden

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many of the 840 jobs in prospect in the Bishop Auckland travel-to-work area are for men; what occupations they are to be; and by what date they are likely to be available.

Mr. Erroll

As the hon. Member will have seen from the reply I gave on 14th December to the hon. Member for Durham (Mr. Grey) and other hon. Members, the number of new jobs in prospect for the Bishop Auckland group of employment exchange areas, is about 1,400. Of these, 600 will be for men and 800 for women. The jobs for men are mainly in the engineering, machinery and electrical industries; those for women are mainly in the clothing and textiles industries.
