§ Sir Richard Glynasked the President of the Board of Trade on what bodies he has regular meetings with the worker and management representatives of industry, including the nationalised industries, and agriculture; where these meetings are usually held; who takes the chair; which of the parties is responsible for the secretarial duties; and what is the cost to the Exchequer.
§ Mr. ErrollI attend meetings of the National Production Advisory Council on Industry, held quarterly in the Cabinet Office. The chair is normally taken by my right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer. I also take the chair at meetings of the Engineering Advisory Council held three or four times a year and of the Consultative Committee for Industry which meets as required, once or twice a year; both meet at the Board of Trade. The E.A.C. does not include representatives of nationalised industries or agriculture;124W the C.C.I. does not include representatives of the nationalised industries. Secretarial services are in each case provided by Board of Trade officials. These are only part of their duties. The cost, covering salaries and overheads, is estimated to be of the order of £5,000 per annum for the N.P.A.C.I. and £1,000 per annum for the E.A.C. The cost for the C.C.I. is small.
