HC Deb 18 December 1961 vol 651 c124W
Mr. Hale

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will arrange for an inquiry under Section 250 of the Companies Act, 1948, into the liquidation of the Waterhead Funeral Society in respect of which the winding-up order was made on 12th December, 1955, and in respect of which no distribution has yet been made.

Sir K. Joseph

No. My right hon. Friend sees no reason to do so. The joint liquidators have had the greatest difficulty in tracing the members of the Society and the contributions which each member has made. These researches are approaching completion and the court will doubtless then be able to make the necessary order for the appropriate distribution to members.

Mr. Hale

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the amount now standing to the credit of the Board of Trade in the Companies Liquidation Account of the Bank of England in respect of the funds of the Waterhead Funeral Society; when such account was opened; and what interest has been credited.

Sir K. Joseph

£8,918; December, 1955; £346 2s. 0d. after deduction of Income Tax.
