§ Mr. G. Lloydasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is prepared to make a grant to the National Institute of Economic and Social Research in response to their request for Government support.
§ Mr. Selwyn LloydYes. Subject to the approval of Estimates by Parliament, it has been decided to make a grant-in-aid of £5,000 a year towards the general purposes of the National Institute and to support certain pieces of research being undertaken by the Institute into problems of growth in the British economy. The aggregate cost of this research" is £19,000 a year, and it is expected that the work will continue for three years.
