HC Deb 19 April 1961 vol 638 cc115-6W
Mr. Prentice

asked the Minister of Labour why he proposes to spend £44,000 less on direct grants to Remploy Limited in the financial year 1961–62 than in the preceding year.

Mr. Hare

The estimated grant to Remploy during 1961–62 represents, in effect, an increase on the corresponding figure for 1960–61 because the latter includes £62,000 to meet the cost of wages on a 53rd pay day in that year and a supplementary provision of £100,000 required to meet increased costs, some of which are not expected to recur in 1961–62.
