asked the Minister of Labour if he will publish figures showing the total capacity for the employment of apprentices in the engineering, shipbuilding, and building industries in Scotland, respectively, and the actual numbers so employed.

It is not possible to say what the capacity for the employment of apprentices in any industry is: but I would refer the hon. Member to answers given by my hon. Friend and myself on 20th March, 1961 (OFFICIAL REPORT, Cols. 8–10) and on 27th March, 1961 (OFFICIAL REPORT, Cols. 948–950).
