HC Deb 17 April 1961 vol 638 c75W
Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland where he proposes to site the new general hospital for Coat-bridge and Airdrie; what is the approximate number of beds it is intended to provide; and when he expects the new building to be started.

Mr. Maclay

The Western Regional Hospital Board is examining two possible sites at present. The precise number of beds to be provided cannot be determined until further progress has been made with the long-term planning of hospital services in Lanarkshire but is likely to be 300 to 400. It is too early yet to forecast when building can begin.
