HC Deb 14 November 1960 vol 630 c4W
56. Dr. A. Thompson

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the abnormally high incidence of chest and heart cases in industrial areas of Great Britain, he will give immediate consideration to measures to protect the health of citizens from the effects of smog in the forthcoming winter.

Miss Pitt

Yes. Facilities for the care and protection of persons liable to suffer in smog conditions will be available under the National Health Service, including provision of special masks. Warning and advice will be broadcast by the B.B.C. when persistent fog is expected.
