§ 62. Mr. Owenasked the Minister of Labour the total numbers of unemployed for the North Eastern Region in mid-October; how many men, women, and school leavers, respectively, were unemployed; and what steps he is taking to deal with the problem.
§ Mr. Hare33,863 persons were unemployed in the Northern Region on 10th October giving a percentage rate of 2.5 per cent. unemployment; 23,523 were men, 8,208 women and 690 school leavers. My local officers and the Youth Employment Service are continuing to do all they can to place unemployed persons in suitable employment.
