asked the Postmaster-General whether he has had his attention drawn to recent complaints about delays experienced in making telephone calls to Ireland and other places; and what steps he intends to take in order to mitigate this state of affairs in the near future.

Yes. I am sorry about these delays which are due to recruitment difficulties in some places, and to unexpectedly rapid growth of traffic. I am doing all I can to improve the service. As regards the particular case mentioned by my hon. and gallant Friend more lines to Ireland are being provided.
