§ 59. Mr. Russellasked the Minister of Transport if he is aware of the congestion caused by single-line traffic in each carriageway of A.1 at Apex Corner, Hendon; and when the improvement of the roundabout there will be completed.
§ Mr. MarplesAs part of the general improvement of the junction at Apex Corner, pedestrian subways are being built, and congestion is occurring in the northbound lane since the subway in that area has to be built through the existing carriageway. Work on this subway is at present scheduled to be complete by 21st March and on the whole roundabout by mid-April. I have authorised double-shift working to speed matters and I am exploring other measures to ease the situation.
