HC Deb 09 May 1960 vol 623 c12W
71. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many protests, and from whom, he has received against his proposal to close down his Department's research establishment at Greyhope Road, Aberdeen; and whether, in the light of those protests and the unemployment in, and loss to, Aberdeen which that closure will cause, he will now reconsider his decision to close that factory.

Mr. Godber

My right hon. Friend has received no protests other than the representations made by the hon. and learned Member himself and by the hon. Lady the Member for Aberdeen, South (Lady Tweedsmuir).

We are doing all we can to minimise hardship to the staff affected, and my right hon. Friend does not feel that the circumstances justify reconsideration of his decision to close the research establishment.
