Thomasasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether, in view of the substantial increase in the number of retired persons in Wales, he will introduce a special subsidy to encourage local authorities to build more pensioners' bungalows and single flatlets; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. H. BrookeA special subsidy is already payable to encourage the erection of one-bedroom dwellings suitable for old people. I would welcome proposals from local authorities in Wales to include a larger proportion of these in their house-building programmes.
