HC Deb 11 March 1960 vol 619 c53W
Mr. Willey

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the prices of fertilisers, with and without subsidies, expressed in terms of price per ton nutrient.

Mr. Hare

Following is the information in respect of typical nitrogenous, phosphatic and potassic fertilisers:

DELIVERED PRICES AT 1ST MARCH, 1960
IN TERMS OF PLANT FOOD NUTRIENT
Fertiliser Price per ton before deduction of subsidy Price per ton after deduction of subsidy
£ s. d. £ s. d.
Sulphate of Ammonia (21 per cent. N) 101 3 10 53 13 10
Single Superphosphate (18 per cent. P2O5) 80 2 9 42 12 9
Basic Slag (14 per cent. P2O5) 52 1 1 29 7 6
Potassium Chloride (60 percent. K2O) 34 1 8 34 1 8
(no subsidy payable)

Note

The above figures are based on spring prices— which took effect 1.3.60—for 6 ton lots, delivered to buyer's nearest railway station, except in the case of potassium chloride where price shown is the price ex-port or works.

It is not of course possible to give the information required for compound fertilisers, since these combine two or more nutrients.
