HC Deb 27 June 1960 vol 625 c86W
62. Dr. A. Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is satisfied, in view of his responsibilities under international treaties concerning German rearmament, that the West German Government's proposals for naval rearmament and the strengthening of naval bases do not infringe the provisions of these treaties; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. R. Allan

Yes.

International responsibilities with regard to German rearmament are set out in the Revised Brussels Treaty of which Her Majesty's Government are a signatory. Any proposals requiring its amendment are for the decision of the Western European Union Council.
