asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many grants have been approved in respect of improvements under the Agriculture Act, 1957; at what estimated cost; and how many applications have been received.

Up to the end of May, 1960, 102,328 applications had been received in England and Wales. Of these, 67,333 had been formally approved at a total estimated cost of just over £48 million. A further 5,551 applications had been approved in principle.
