HC Deb 14 July 1960 vol 626 c123W
62 and 63. Sir L. Plummer

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what have been the results of his investigation into recent outbreaks of swine fever in herds vaccinated against the disease;

(2) what has been the incidence of swine fever outbreaks recently among pigs vaccinated with crystal violet vaccine.

Mr. Hare

Up to 10th July, 624 outbreaks of swine fever have been confirmed this year. Twenty of these have occurred in registered vaccinated herds. In most of the latter cases there is good evidence that infection was introduced to very young pigs before they were vaccinated or to recently vaccinated older pigs before they had become fully immune.
