HC Deb 09 February 1960 vol 617 c26W
66. Sir D. Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much has been offered in marginal agricultural production grants to farmers in Sutherland for 1959–60; how this compares with the total sums paid in the previous two years; and how many applications for grants have been rejected for land which is indisputably marginal.

Mr. Maclay

Grants totalling £10,600 are to be offered in Sutherland for the 1960 cropping season compared with £18,800 for 1958 and £12,600 for 1959. No indisputably marginal farms have been refused grant.
