asked the Minister Health how many people, and of what ages, were drowned in the rivers, canals, and off the coasts of Great Britain during each of the last ten years; and, of these, how many were drowned because of their inability to swim.

The following table shows the number of deaths in England and Wales in the last ten years classified as due to accidental drowning, including drowning from boats but excluding accidents stated to have occurred at home or on farms or in mines, quarries or industrial premises.
