§ Mr. Robert Jenkinsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what progress has been made in reaching a settlement regarding compensation for the damage and loss to British lives and property in Bagdad on 14th July, 1958.
§ Mr. Selwyn LloydThe Iraq Government have recently paid to Her Majesty's Government the sum of £120,000 as compensation.
This money has been paid to the Exchequer; Parliament will be asked in due course to vote the money required to meet individual claims, by means of a Supplementary Estimate to the Foreign Service Vote. In the meantime, an allowance is being obtained from the Civil Contingencies Fund.
