HC Deb 05 April 1960 vol 621 c35W
69. Mr. Gower

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many dwellings for older people enjoying a special subsidy were under construction in England and Wales, respectively, at the latest convenient date; and how these figures compare with the numbers under construction in April, 1957, and 1958.

Mr. H. Brooke

There were 39,130 one-bedroom dwellings for which subsidy is paid under construction or in tenders approved in England on 31st December, 1959, and 1,337 in Wales. Comparable figures for 31st March, 1957, and 31st March, 1958, were 25,476 and 27,234 for England, and for Wales 498 and 937.
