64. Mr. Lindsayasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he will draw the attention of local authorities to the desirability of making greater use of their powers to provide 100 per cent. mortgages.
§ Mr. H. BrookeMy experience is that authorities are well aware of their powers, but whether they should use them to make a 100 per cent. advance in any particular case must, I think, be left to their discretion. I would however hope that they would consider sympathetically applications from elderly people who may have difficulty in borrowing from other sources.
