HC Deb 05 April 1960 vol 621 c27W
Mr. Marquand

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what projects for the construction of feeder roads to assist banana producers to get their products to the main roads have been submitted to him by the Government of Dominica.

Mr. Iain Macleod

Numerous projects for the construction of feeder roads in Dominica have been submitted to successive Secretaries of State and approved since 1950. Over £140,000 has been given from Colonial Development and Welfare funds and further grants have been approved for road equipment and staff which have been employed partially on these projects. Local funds have also contributed to the cost. These roads have all been given priority because they will directly assist the movement of the main agricultural crops, bananas and citrus. They are now completed.
