HC Deb 04 April 1960 vol 621 c16W
98. Mr. Owen

asked the Minister of Labour how many training development officers in industry have been appointed since the Government offer of financial assistance; in what industries they are employed; what progress report has been received; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. P. Thomas

The total number of such appointments in industry is not known, but the number of posts created with the assistance of the grant-in-aid to the Industrial Training Council is five. Four appointments have recently been made to these posts. They are with the Cotton Board, the Hotel and Catering Institute and the Industrial Trading Council itself, which has appointed two officers to its own staff. It would be premature to attempt any assessment of the results achieved.
