§ Lord Balnielasked the Minister of Aviation (1) what contribution is being made by the Government to individual private companies for the development of aero-engines;
(2) what contribution is being made by the Government to individual private companies for the development of aircraft frames.
§ Mr. SandysThe cost of developing airframes and aero-engines for military aircraft is usually borne by the Government. The extent of Government assistance towards the cost of developing airframes and engines for civil aircraft, or of a military type with obvious civil applications, varies from case to case. It would be contrary to established practice to publish details of Government contracts with individual companies.
