asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he gave consent to afforestation in Glenspean and Glenroy; and how far all relative matters concerning shelter belts and the preservation of good agricultural or crofting land were considered.

Consent for the acquisition by the Forestry Commission of these properties was given in 1953 and 1957, respectively, only after the fullest examination by the Commission and the Department of Agriculture for Scotland of all matters referred to by the right hon. Gentleman.
