HC Deb 17 November 1959 vol 613 c104W
63. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what representations he has received from bodies in Wales regarding the provision of a separate Welsh television channel.

Mr. H. Brooke

I have received written representations from five organisations in Wales and, accompanied by the predecessor of my right hon. Friend the Postmaster-General, have discussed the matter with the Welsh Parliamentary Party and with representatives of the University of Wales. My right hon. Friend and I have also received the text of a resolution passed at a recent national conference in Cardiff urging that Wales should be treated as an entity for further television services and that the necessary channels should be released for this purpose. All these representations will be most carefully considered.
