HC Deb 17 November 1959 vol 613 c109W
84. Mr. Channon

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will now estimate the numbers of British, Greek-Cypriot, and Turkish-Cypriot people, respectively, who will live in each of the areas in Cyprus which are to be retained under full British sovereignty according to the Declaration made by the Government of the United Kingdom on 17th February, 1959.

Mr. J. Amery

I cannot give an estimate at this stage. The British population will depend upon the size of the Forces. It has always been Her Majesty's Government's aim to keep the number of Cypriots to the minimum.
